Friday – Feb 18
Today’s scripture is John 17:24. In this short little scripture we discover the expressed desire of Jesus’s heart. This is an amazing reality for us to get a hold of. When we realize the intensity with which we are loved by God it will unlock our hearts to truly love Him back. It will empower us to lay our lives down in worship to see Him glorified.
Some things to think about.
- Do you believe that Jesus really wants you to be with Him today?
- Ask the Holy Spirit to let you behold the glory of Jesus and ask Him to let this beholding transform your heart.
- Are you in perfect unity with God? Is there something in your life that prevents you from being perfectly united to God?
- Are you walking in unity with those around you? Let the Holy Spirit bring to mind broken relationships in your life that He wants to restore and bring about perfect unity in.
- Have I said yes to Jesus’s sanctifying work in my life?
- What areas of my life is the Holy Spirit bringing to mind that He wants to empower me to have victory in?
- Where do I get my biggest sense of value?
- Which do I value more, God’s opinion of me or the world’s opinion of me?
- What situations in your life can you think of that Jesus kept you in His name?
- Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how He has kept you in your journey with God.
Prayer: Father thank you for your love and grace. Jesus thank you for your burning desire to have me with you. Holy Spirit would you strike my heart with the reality of God’s desire for me. Help me to really understand and know how much you love me. God would you transform my heart with your love. Jesus I want to be with you today. I want to see your glory today. Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth would you usher me into the reality of this scripture today. In Jesus name, amen.

Thursday – Feb 17
Today’s scripture is John 17:20-23. In this portion of the High Priestly prayer, Jesus prays for the Father to release the grace to be unified to those who believe in Him. It is God’s desire that His church would exemplify the same type of unity that is seen in the Father’s relationship with the Son. God wants us to have perfect unity with Him and with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Some things to think about.
Prayer: Father thank you for the perfect example of unity that I can see in your relationship with Jesus. God thank you for inviting me into this type of unity with you and with others. I know that my brokenness sometimes gets in the way of me being able to walk in unity with you and with other people. God help me to do my part to be in unity with others. God give me supernatural grace to be a person of unity. In Jesus name, amen.

Wednesday – Feb 16
Today’s scripture is John 17:19. In this verse, Jesus prays to His Father about Him sanctifying Himself so that we could also be sanctified. Jesus does not just want us to be passive participants in our own sanctification, but He invites us to say yes to Him as He sanctifies us.
Some things to think about.
Prayer: God thank you for the invitation to be sanctified like you are sanctified. God I say yes to your desire to release holiness in my life. I want to look like Jesus. Holy Spirit please show me the places in my life that you want to sanctify and set apart for your Kingdom. Help me to say yes to this process of sanctification. In Jesus name, amen.

Daily Devotional ~ Tuesday Feb 15
Tuesday, February 15th, 2011
Tuesday – Feb 15
Today’s scripture is John 17:13-18. In this portion of scripture Jesus describes Himself and His disciples as being in the world but not of the world. He was making a bold statement that those who are a part of the kingdom of God derive their value from another place. As followers of Jesus we are called to have our security and identity in God’s kingdom and not the kingdom of this world.
Some things to think about.
Prayer: God I want to love you with all that I am and I know that friendship with the world puts me at odds with you. Help me to understand what it means to be in the world but not of it. Help me to find my value in your opinion of me and not what the world thinks of me. Empower me to cut my ties with the worldly system that is violently opposed to you and your kingdom. In Jesus name, amen.

Daily Devotional ~ Monday Feb 14
Monday, February 14th, 2011
Monday – Feb 14
Today’s scripture is John 17:6-12. In this scripture Jesus prays to His Father and says that it was Him who kept the disciples from falling. Through Jesus’s investment in the disciples, they were able to stay faithful to God. It is critical for us to understand that Jesus is doing the same thing for each of us. Often we think of salvation as a onetime event, but in reality Jesus’s perseverance with us in our relationship with Him, saves us over and over again. We often trust in God’s grace to save us from sin and then think that the remaining faithful part is up to us. Jesus longs for us to know that He is as involved in keeping us as He was in saving us.
Some things to think about.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for you faithfulness in my life. I know you are the author and perfecter of my faith. Help me to see that more clearly. Please show me the times where you have kept me and increase my faith to trust you to continue to keep me.
